Overview

Schedule management is a critical component of any successful construction project. Within ProjectTeam.com, each project includes a dedicated area to manage an unlimited number of Gantt schedules. This flexibility allows teams to separate timelines for design, construction, procurement, and other project phases—without cluttering a single master timeline. This help page provides an introduction to the Gantt schedule features in ProjectTeam.com, outlining the core concepts and tools available to effectively plan, organize, and track your project timelines.

How to Access Schedules on Your Project

  1. Inside each project, click the Schedules option on the left navigation bar.
  2. This will bring you to the log view for all schedules that have been created and shared with you.  From here, select the schedule you want to view.
  3. The overall detail page of that schedule will appear.  This page is the similar to all other form types within ProjectTeam.com.Schedule Form View

Note: Only the creator of each schedule will be able to edit that schedule. Therefore, creator will see a button titled "Fullscreen / Edit Gantt".

Non-creators that have been shared the schedule will be able to view but not edit the Gantt chart area. Therefore, they will see a button titled "Fullscreen".

  • Lead (FS-1): An overlap where the successor starts before the predecessor finishes.
  • Lag (FS+1): A delay between the end of the predecessor and the start of the successor.
% Complete A progress indicator that shows how much of a task has been finished. It’s typically based on time, work effort, or physical progress, helping teams track how far along a task is toward completion.

Task Types (Parent Tasks, Subtasks, Milestones)

In ProjectTeam.com, you can define different types of tasks to build a clear and organized schedule, including tasks, parent tasks, subtasks, and milestones.

  • Task: A standard activity with a defined start and finish used to track work.
  • Parent Task: A summary task that groups related subtasks and rolls up their data. Its duration is automatically calculated as the total duration from the earliest start to the latest finish of all its subtasks.
  • Subtask: A task nested under a parent task, representing a smaller part of the overall effort.
  • Milestone: A zero-duration marker used to indicate key events or project checkpoints.

Gantt Chart Options

In ProjectTeam.com, the Gantt chart includes several options to help you customize and manage your project schedules more effectively:

  • Configure Working Days: Set the standard working days and holidays for your project to ensure accurate scheduling.
  • Configure Auto Scheduling Rules: Define how tasks are automatically adjusted when changes are made to dependencies or durations. By default, schedules have auto-scheduling turned "on", but you can change to "off" if needed.
  • Show Critical Path: Highlight the sequence of tasks that directly impact the project’s end date, helping you identify key schedule risks. If critical path is showing, then the option in the dropdown will change to "Hide Critical Path".
  • Import: Upload schedules from external sources to quickly build or update your Gantt chart.
  • Export: Download your schedule in a shareable format for reporting, collaboration, or recordkeeping.
