Formatting quotes in a Merge Template
When using quotes in a Merge Template, it is best to turn off the autocorrecting function that changes standard quotes to smart quotes.
How to change the standard quotation in MS Word.
MS Word will autoformat your quotation marks from straight quotes to smart quotes. This can cause issues when uploading Merge Templates that include formulas. In order to fix this, the autoformatting will need to be turned off. Below are the steps to turn off the autoformatting for straight quotes.
- In your MS Word document, click on File
- Click on Options
- Click on Proofing
- Select the Auto Correct Options button in the upper right corner
- Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab at the top of the pop up
- Unselect "Straight quotes" with "smart quotes"
- Select OK
- Once you have selected OK, you will need to restart MS Word
Below is a screen shot of what you settings should look like before you select the OK button.
Note: If you do not unselect "Straight quotes" with "smart quotes", then you will experience errors when uploading your file into ProjectTeam.
