Create a Schedule

Schedules can be created at a Project Level to determine the dates and milestones for a project. The Article below will give a detailed explanation on how to create a schedule.

Overview

Creating a schedule is the first step in organizing and tracking the work on your project. In ProjectTeam.com, you can easily create a new Gantt schedule within any project to plan tasks, set durations, define dependencies, and assign responsibilities. This help page walks you through the steps to create a schedule from scratch or by importing existing data, helping you build a structured timeline that supports your project’s goals.

Create A Schedule

Note: Only Subscribers (paid users) have the ability to create schedules in ProjectTeam.com.

Contributors (free users) can view schedules that have been shared with them but do not have permission to create or edit schedules.

  1. From the Project Homepage, navigate to the Schedules area on the left hand side of your homepage.
  2. Once you have selected Schedules, Click Create New Schedule, or New in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Enter a Subject and Description for the new Schedule, and select Save & Next.
  4. Begin to enter your desired schedule tasks along with the duration and dates for each, by clicking into each section.
  5. Once you have entered all of your Schedule tasks, click Save.
  6. After your schedule has been saved, it will appear just like all other forms within ProjectTeam.com. Here you will have the ability to view the schedule in full screen, edit it, and add Action Items, Workflows, and Attachments to the schedule form.

How To Add a Milestone

  • A Milestone can be added to a schedule by setting the duration of a task at 0 days.  This will add a milestone marker icon to the day of the task.

How To Add a Subtask

  • A subtask can be added to any task within the schedule.  This is completed by right-clicking on an existing task and select Add Subtask.

Drag and Drop Tasks

  • Each task can be reordered, after they have been added to the schedule.  Reordering tasks is done by dragging and dropping to a new location.
  • To Reorder, select and hold the task moving it up or down to a new desired location.  Releasing the task in the new location will save it in the new position and allow it to be editing in that new position as well.

Adding Links to the Tasks

  • Tasks can be linked together by adding predecessors or by dragging two tasks together.
  • On each task row, the timeline bar has a bullet points before and after each bar.  By clicking and dragging that bullet point from one bar to another, you can link the two tasks.
  • This will cause the task to be dependent on one another.
  • When dragging two tasks together, this will automatically add a predecessor to that task in the left column next tot he Gantt chart.
